TOPIK

Test

TOPIK (Test of Proficiency in Korean)

Overview

The Test of Proficiency in Korean (TOPIK) is a standardized test designed to assess and certify the Korean language proficiency of non-native speakers. It is administered by the National Institute for International Education (NIIED) in South Korea.

Sections

The TOPIK test comprises two sections:

  1. Listening and Reading: Assessing listening and reading comprehension skills through multiple-choice questions based on recorded audio clips and written texts.
  2. Writing: Evaluating writing skills through tasks such as essay writing and answering questions based on provided prompts.

Scoring

TOPIK scores are reported on a scale from level 1 to level 6, with level 1 indicating the lowest proficiency and level 6 indicating the highest proficiency. Each section is scored separately, and candidates receive a combined score based on their performance in both sections.

Validity

TOPIK scores are typically valid for two years from the test date. However, specific validity periods may vary depending on the institution or organization requiring TOPIK scores for admission or employment purposes.
