PTE (Pearson Test of English)

Overview

The Pearson Test of English (PTE) is an English language proficiency test designed to assess the language skills of non-native English speakers who wish to study, work, or migrate to English-speaking countries.

Sections

The PTE test comprises three main sections:

  1. Speaking and Writing: Assessing speaking and writing skills through tasks such as reading aloud, summarizing written texts, and writing essays.
  2. Reading: Evaluating reading comprehension skills by presenting a range of authentic texts and assessing the ability to understand main ideas, factual information, and implied meanings.
  3. Listening: Testing listening comprehension skills with a variety of recordings, including lectures, conversations, and interviews.

Scoring

PTE Academic scores are reported on a scale from 10 to 90, with each section receiving a separate score. Scores are determined based on performance in each section, with higher scores indicating greater proficiency.

Validity

PTE scores are typically valid for up to two years from the test date, although specific validity periods may vary depending on the institution or organization accepting the scores.
